Having trouble with StreamCam? Here are fixes for the most common issues.
First-time setup
In StreamCam, tap the link button to copy the address. In OBS or Streamlabs, add a Browser Source, paste it as the URL and set the source to your canvas size. Then tap Go Live in StreamCam, and your camera shows up in OBS.
The address won't load
- Phone and computer need to be on the same Wi-Fi. Guest networks often block devices from seeing each other.
- If StreamCam shows Invalid Network, reconnect the phone to Wi-Fi.
- Keep StreamCam open on screen. The stream pauses in the background and resumes when you come back.
Black screen or choppy video
- Use OBS 28 or newer. In the Browser Source, set FPS to 60 and keep hardware acceleration on.
- Firefox can't play HEVC, and OBS on Windows needs Microsoft's HEVC Video Extensions. Switch StreamCam to H.264 if in doubt.
- Chrome and OBS play the stream more smoothly than Safari.
- Want the picture to fill the frame instead of letterboxing? Add
?fit=coverto the end of the address.
Apple Watch
- The Watch app needs watchOS 26. It controls StreamCam on your iPhone, so keep StreamCam open on the iPhone's screen.
- StreamCam Closed: open StreamCam on your iPhone. The Watch can't start a stream while the iPhone app is in the background.
- iPhone Not Reachable: keep your iPhone nearby with Bluetooth on.
- Update Needed: update StreamCam on your iPhone; the Watch app updates with it.
- Can't Go Live: the Watch says why, usually Wi-Fi or camera access on the iPhone. Fix it there and the button comes back.
- No tap when something breaks? With the Watch app closed, alerts arrive as notifications. Allow them in the Watch app on your iPhone, under Notifications › StreamCam.
