Get the most out of StreamCam
No. StreamCam works over Wi-Fi, and does not need to be tethered to your computer.
You might want to plug it to a power source while using the app, however, as the process is quite performance-hungry and might deplete your battery quickly.
No. In fact, you can see the camera output from any browser; just copy the URL the app gives you, and you should be able to see your phone's camera output right there! (so long as your iPhone and your computer are on the same Wi-Fi)
Yes. StreamCam simply provides your phone's camera output as a local webpage. Most live-streaming studios nowadays allow you to add 'Browser Sources', which is how StreamCam is intended to be used.
OBS Studio, Twitch Studio & Streamlabs were all tested with StreamCam and support it out-of-the-box.
Any other software that supports browser sources should work as well.
Yes. StreamCam only works on your local Wi-Fi, and as such is not accessible from the internet.
Your camera's output is never sent anywhere else, and our devs cannot access it either.
Be mindful of which Wi-Fi you're connected to, as StreamCam's output will be accessible to anyone with the link on your local Wi-Fi.
Unfortunately, no. StreamCam is designed to be easy to use & setup. To be able to use StreamCam as a virtual camera would require installing extra software on your computer, which is not something I plan on doing.
If you need to use your iPhone as a virtual webcam, I could suggest you use EpocCam or Camo (not affiliated).
Yes. At the end of the day, StreamCam's output is just a webpage, which most operating systems can display just fine.
Unfortunately, no. There are plenty of similar apps on Android, and being a solo developer, I wanted to focus on my area of expertise (iOS).
Yes. This feature requires purchasing the Pro version of StreamCam.
The Pro version also allows you to chose a wider range of frame-rates (1fps, 3fps, 24fps, 30fps, 60fps).
The free version is locked at 30fps.
Yes, if you iPhone supports it. This feature requires purchasing the Pro version of StreamCam.
The Pro version also allows you to chose a wider range of output resolutions (from 240p to 4K).
The free version is locked at 480p, which should be plenty for thumbnail-size face-camera in your streams.
Yes. This feature requires purchasing the Pro version of StreamCam.
The Pro version also allows you to chose a wider range of compression presets (from ~100 kbps to ~15 mpbs).
The free version is locked at ~650kbps, which should be plenty for thumbnail-size face-camera in your streams.
There is only one version of StreamCam Pro, which unlocks all features, existing or future.
StreamCam Pro is offered in 3 different prices; this allows you to support me at the level you feel most comfortable with.
Cheaper or more expensive purchases offer the same set of features regardless. What matters is your support 🙏
